Our generous donors and supporting foundations fuel our sustainable success.
In Ethiopia, our focus is on prevention.
- MHF supports doctors’ education with a urogynecology fellowship program.
- Improving and outfitting clinics run by midwives by supplying equipment, water and clean delivery rooms.
- Helping to fund and outfit the new Maternal Neonatal & Child Health Center – Specialty Center at Bushulo Health Center in Sidama. The Center provides women, newborns and children with exceptional care: prenatal, delivery, postnatal and pediatric services.
- Contributing to building a deep-bore well and water purification plant at the fistula hospital in Mekelle, Tigre.
- We work with others that have similar goals. Most importantly, these include local social leaders, other NGOs and regional health bureaus.
In Uganda, our focus is on fistula repair and prevention.
- MHF funding and leadership resulted in the construction of The Terrewode Women’s Community Hospital (TWCH) a 30-bed women’s hospital, dedicated to fistula repair.
- We worked with other NGOs to build the facility in less than two years.
- TWCH now treats hundreds of women with fistula, each year.
- By continuing to support Terrewode, we expect to reach a goal of treating 600 women per year.
- Plans are underway for Phase 2 at TWCH a new facility that will specialize in comprehensive obstetric care and deliveries for Ugandan women and girls to avoid childbirth trauma and tragic mother and infant deaths.
