With Deep Thanks This Season

As we approach Thanksgiving, we pause to express heartfelt gratitude for every one of our supporters. Because of you, 2025 has been one of the most impactful years in MHF’s history. Your generosity has strengthened hospitals, trained future leaders, and restored health to women across four nations.

2025 Highlights — Made Possible by You

Ghana: Mercy Fistula Center completed its 30-bed surgical and recovery upgrade, now one of West Africa’s best-equipped facilities for complex fistula repair. Over 130 women received surgery this year.
Ethiopia (Tigray): Sustained March 8 MNCH-SC operations through instability, providing safe deliveries and maternal services.
Uganda: Continued support for TERREWODE Women’s Community Hospital, Uganda’s only fistula-training hospital — including seed funding for its planned maternity wing.
Sierra Leone: Partnering with TeenSafer Maternity Home in Makeni to equip a surgical unit and expand ultrasound outreach across rural health centers.
Across all countries: A new multi-year grant is enabling expansion of rural maternal-health systems, emergency obstetric capacity, and portable surgical units for 2026.
Looking Ahead

  • Scaling ultrasound (POCUS) for early detection of high-risk pregnancies.
Expanding emergency obstetric care through portable surgical units.
Launching new outreach and referral programs to reach more women in rural areas.

Expanding Africa-Led Surgical Training

This December, Dr. Fekade Ayenachew Aklilu, one of Africa’s most experienced fistula surgeons, will lead advanced training at Mercy Fistula Center. His mentorship will prepare Ghanaian residents to manage complex obstetric fistula cases and strengthen national capacity for maternal surgery.

Your support makes this work possible — every donation helps deliver life-changing care to women who deserve safety and hope. This Giving Tuesday, help us reach more mothers and daughters in need.
