Francisca, a 30-year-old account officer from Sekondi-Takoradi, did everything right during her pregnancy—attending antenatal visits faithfully and following every piece of medical advice. But after a prolonged labor and an emergency C-section, she developed obstetric fistula.

“Living with fistula was emotionally and physically draining,” Francisca shares. “I had to wear incontinence pads constantly. I felt ashamed, isolated, and deeply distressed. My marriage suffered, and I wondered if I would ever regain my life.”

For two years she carried this burden. Through it all, her mother and brother stood by her, giving her the strength to keep searching for hope. That hope finally arrived when she learned about the Mankessim Fistula Center.
After undergoing successful surgery, Francisca’s life has turned a corner:
“Today, I am free from leakage. I have regained my confidence and happiness.”

Her story is one of resilience and renewal—and a reminder of what your support makes possible.
